RPS Awards
15th May 08I was the official photographer for these awards and met many interesting stars from the world of classical music.
Non more so than the legendary Jose Antonio Abreu who is not only a hero in his home country of Venezuela but is also credited with the development of one of the most outstanding conductors of the day Gustavo Dudamel. Abreu is the founder and inspiationalist behind El Sistema. The global phenomenon increasingly recognized as one of the most successful and innovative music education programs ever created. The core idea consists of the formation of community-based youth orchestras by providing free instruments and tuition to underprivileged children living in diprived areas. El Sistema started in Venezuela but has grown to many countries and cities including New York and next year links up with Glasgow through the voice and support of Richard Holloway.
